Automobiles in German City Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities mentioned they were notified by a resident who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.

Police say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they added.

Law enforcement then found multiple other marked cars and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.

A senior political figure said the incident rendered him without words and needed to be addressed quickly.

"This incident hits the center of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
